him/her the day of the treatment.

anything for at least 4hrs before his/her appointment.
-
If your child is taking any medication
(including over the counter medications) please inform us at each
appointment time.
-
Have your child wear loose comfortable
clothing. He/She may want to bring a favorite blanket or stuffed animal.
(Parents may want to bring a light sweater)
-
Be prepared to be here in our office for 2 to
3 hrs. the day of your child's dental
treatment.
Oral Sedation Post-Op Instructions
-
Your child has been given a sedation and
possibly may need assistances walking to your car. He/She may feel and
continue to feel drowsy throughout the day. He/She may sleep 1 or 2 hours
after the treatment and may continue to nap on and off throughout the day,
this is normal. Plan to keep your child home after the dental treatment.
Your child will need to be supervised by a responsible adult. If your
child is of school age, we will give you an excuse to take to school the
next day.
-
A local anesthetic has been used to numb the
area treated. You will need to make sure that your child does not bite or
suck on their lips, cheeks or tongue. If this does happen you need to keep
the affected area clean.
-
A light soft diet is recommended after the
dental treatment. (ex. soups, scrambled eggs, mashed potatoes) When the
numb feeling is completely gone, resume a firmer diet. Do stay away from
hard, crispy and chewy foods. The next day you can give your child a
regular diet.
-
Be sure you brush your child's gums and teeth
starting this evening. Your child will heal faster and feel better if the
gums and teeth are kept clean.
